Q: What kind of run-time can I expect from my WhisperMow™ lawn tractor?
A: Range will vary based on mowing speed, terrain and grass length, but on average you can expect a 1 hour 20 minute (80 minute) run time from the standard 48 volt model and a 1 hour 40 minute (100 minute) run time from the 48 volt “XR” model (XR = extended range).
Q: How much lawn can my WhisperMow™ cut before requiring recharge?
A: The standard 48 volt model can mow for 80 minutes and in that time mow an average 1 acre residential lot, whereas the 48 volt “XR” model can mow for 100 minutes and in that time mow an average 1.5 acre residential lot.
Q: How long will my WhisperMow™ lawn tractor take to recharge its batteries?
A: The recharge time depends on how much energy was removed from the batteries since its last 100% recharge, however, assuming a complete discharge, the tractor will require an overnight charge of approximately 17 hours to regain its 100% recharged status. An 80% recharged status can be achieved in 10 hours; although it is not recommended that you regularly mow on an 80% recharged battery pack.
Q: What happens when my WhisperMow™ lawn tractor runs out of charge….will I get stranded?
A: Your WhisperMow™ lawn tractor will notify you of a depleting battery pack visually through the tractor’s digital battery display on the operator’s control panel. As the battery pack becomes depleted of its stored energy, the digital display will display the battery status as a number between 9 and 1. The number 9 on the digital display indicates a fully charged system, whereas the number 1 displayed would indicate a fully depleted system. As you mow, you will see the digital display count down from 9, 8, 7 and so on. Once yourWhisperMow™ lawn tractor reaches a critical state of discharge, the digital display will notify the operator by flashing the number 1 and will shortly thereafter cut power to the tractor’s mow deck motor (or other e-implementsTM) thus stopping the cutting blades to conserve energy. At this point, your should return your tractor to its place of storage and immediately plug it into your household A/C service outlet. Once yourWhisperMow™ tractor cuts power to the deck motor and cutting blades, you will have approximately 10 to 15 minutes of run time before the lawn tractor will completely shut down. As such, it is only possible to get stranded if one completely ignores the flashing digital battery display and inability to power the mow deck AND continues to run the tractor for an additional 10 to 15 minutes. See digital display.
Q: How long can I expect the batteries to last in my WhisperMow™ tractor?
A: Your WhisperMow™ battery pack is designed for 250 to 300 cycles. On average, assuming a full depth of discharge once per week for 52 weeks per year, your WhisperMow™ tractor should have a useful life of five to six years before replacement batteries will be necessary (300 total cycles). The lifespan of your batteries will vary considerably on your average depth of discharge, number of cycles and your diligence to always place your tractor on charge. Your WhisperMow™ tractor batteries have a prorated two (2) year warranty from date of purchase.
Q: How much will it cost to recharge my WhisperMow™ tractor?
A: A typical re-charge requires 2 Kwh of electricity from your utility provider which equates to just $0.40 per recharge cycle. Once your WhisperMow™ lawn tractor is fully charged, the on-board battery charger goes into a monitoring mode and the occasional maintenance mode that is commonly referred to as a float charge. This occasional float charge is similar to what some may know as a trickle charge. This occasional float charge will insure many years of uninterrupted service from your tractor, yet at the same time save electricity costs.
Q: Do the batteries in my WhisperMow™ lawn tractor require any regular maintenance?
A: Your WhisperMow™ lawn tractor was shipped to you with a deep cycle valve regulated - fully sealed battery pack. Valve regulated batteries were chosen because they do not require regular watering as do flooded lead acid batteries more commonly used on electric golf cars, utility vehicles and lift trucks. So long as you plug your WhisperMow™ tractor into your household A/C outlet after each use, you should NEVER touch your batteries. Battery replacement should only be done by your authorized WhisperMow™ service facility.
Q: What will it cost to replace the batteries?
A: A standard 48 volt model replacement battery pack will cost approximately $795.00, whereas the 48 volt “XR” model replacement battery pack will cost approximately $975.00.
